Each student will be guided through the design process to create a 9” x 9” Glass on Glass (GOG) mosaic intended for interior display. No previous mosaic experience necessary.

Glass on Glass mosaics have an appearance similar to stained glass, where light shines through the translucent colored glass. The materials are grouted instead of using lead to bind the pieces in place. They look beautiful when displayed in windows.

In this one day workshop students will learn the types of glass applicable to (GOG) mosaic design. Students will learn to use mosaic tools to cut and shape glass into tesserae (the pieces that make a mosaic). GOG mosaic design, the double direct method, and grouting technique will be discussed. Adhesives specific to GOG, terminology, and finishing will also be presented.

Repeat this workshop to fine tune your cutting and design skills. The more mosaic experience you have determines the detail in your mosaic.
